Fells Point and Federal Hill Run Baltimore's Night

Fells Point is the walking nightlife neighborhood — cobblestones, bars on every corner, and boats tied up at the piers. The Horse You Came In On Saloon claims to be the oldest bar in America (open since 1775, last drink Edgar Allan Poe had); whether it's exactly the oldest is debated, but the Poe part is documented.

Federal Hill on the other side of the harbor has a tighter bar cluster on Cross Street — Mother's Federal Hill, Ryleigh's, and the rooftop bars along Light Street. For live music: Ottobar in Charles North books serious indie, Ram's Head Live at Power Plant does the national touring acts.

Baltimore's 2 AM last call is standard. The water-taxi network shuts down earlier but the Uber math between the harbor neighborhoods is cheap and quick.
